Antigone... A little late.
So I remember a Shauni Bowles blog said that it seemed like Antigone had a death wish. I wanted to offer a counter point in Antigone's court. It seemed to me that Antigone may just have very solid beliefs. Like Socrates when he is in court and actually HAS the ability to get off scott free and alive. Instead he opts for death and refuses to escape when given the chance because he has to stand firm in his beliefs. I felt that Antigone was less crazy and more just completely devoted to her personal belief structure. That she believed in something and valued that belief more than she valued life. Maybe phrased differently: Life wouldn't be worth living were it not for the high value of her belief in the gods and family responsibility.
